The Exploration Pages - Vindication

The Exploration Pages are being created to further illuminate the concepts used in Ocean Born Muse's works. In the Pages, you'll find a description of the ideology of each song, as well as one of its verses.

Vindication was an expression of anger, grief, and thereafter, hope. Written largely during Muse's time between Texas and Rhode Island, each song was written during a time of emotional and psychological intensity.

Death's Brides

After several requests to write a song related to World of Warcraft, Death's Brides was written in honor of the Forsaken race, as well as in honor of the cold silence of will that comes from an absence, eternally, of light.

In the fading twilight, we walk and we weep
for the ruins of our kingdom are laid at our feet
a scourge upon the bright-lit lands, or so it is they say
we are lost, we children of the night, but no, we do not pray...

Ishnor a la Minne

Inspired by the fantasy fiction that Muse writes in her spare time, Ishnor a la Minne was written as a modern hymn; a testament to the gift of music and all the divine power it can hold.

Rising now in the light
Risen sight of sky
Morning sees the hall of music
I bow before light...

Take No More

An expression of outrage and anger at an intensely negative relationship with another human being, Take No More could easily be considered the most emotionally intense song of Vindication, and at least one of the most intense that Muse has ever written.

I will not be your soul to bleed
I will not take your pain
I will not teach you how to grow
your thorns won't tear my veins...

Words of Light

Words of Light was also inspired by fiction writing, and by the concept in Dungeons and Dragons of the words of creation. A song of hope more than anything else, it is a song of redemption and the pursuit of peace.

The years are bleak, and the white is dark
but the sun, though distant, is seen
and I fly to the stars, and the moon shines down
and I speak the words of light...

Holy Incarnate

Holy Incarnate was written to express a loss of spirituality and belief here on earth. Modern technology having outdated all else, faith in anything beyond the corporeal is comparatively rare.

The holy incarnate have fled the earth
no justice now can save our souls
it's down to a few to save what's left of the shadows that remain...

Jack and Angel

Inspired by Brom's The Plucker, Jack and Angel is an instrumental song, dark things creeping in night to carry you away to their dark and secret places.

Moonfire Dance

Another instrumental, Moonfire Dance was inspired by the druids of Kalimdor.

Fury of the Sun

Inspired by the infamous mohawk of DJ Znuh, Fury of the Sun was nevertheless also written in honor of the blood elves of the Eastern Kingdoms. A highly danceable song, Muse had on her DJ hat when she wrote this track.

Millennium rising, sun still shining
rainbow darkness glistening in moonlight
shadow grin and lightwell brimming
in the fury of the sun...

Heaven

Heaven needs little explanation, although it should be duly noted that the concept of heaven here does not refer to Judeo-Christian mythology. Heaven was reprised for the Temple of Madness EP.

Look into me and see
that I am what you seek
for ever dream, ever dream
you can find heaven in me.

The World Tree Withers

Written in honor of Yggdrasil, the world tree, The World Tree Withers is a mourning of how each day, our planet crumbles more and more into decay because of what we humans do to it.

Twisted and tainted
like our very souls
the world tree withers
standing alone...

Fade

Fade was written as a song of rest; a knowledge that one day, we will all pass from this world and potentially into a more peaceful realm.

for one day, one day we all
must dream, must dream
for one day, one day we all
must sleep eternity away...
